In Saint-Raphaël, Julien Picot fights against the installation of an anti-communist “revisionist monument”

For the departmental secretary of the PCF of the Alpes-Maritimes, the stele, inaugurated last week by the LR mayor of the city "compares the communists to the Nazis"
The LR mayor of Saint-Raphaël, Frédéric Masquelier, announced in Var Matin his intention to sue the departmental secretary of the PCF of the Alpes-Maritimes, Julien Picot, for defamation.
The cause? The mayor, who last week inaugurated a monument dedicated to the "victims of communism" , cannot bear the fact that the local PCF leader accuses him of having "decided, in a fit of anger, to unbolt the stele paying homage to Landini, a communist resistance fighter" .
"I'm not defaming anyone and I stand by my words," assures Julien Picot. "That same week, the mayor compared communists to Nazis and had a revisionist monument installed that insulted us, and what's more, the stele in tribute to Landini was removed. We won't let this happen."
The sudden disappearance of the stele in question, confirmed by Var Martin and Le Monde , would be due, according to the mayor's office, to " upcoming roadworks" .
